Services

The clinicians at Lauren H. Kerstein LCSW, P.C. specializing in providing individual therapy, family therapy and consultations to many different environments.  All services are designed to meet the unique strengths and needs of each individual adolescent or child and their family.

  • Specialized Services

    • Individual Therapy

    Individual Therapy is available to children, adolescents and adults.  Individual Therapy is designed to focus on strengths as individuals work toward specific goals.

    • Family Therapy

    Family Therapy is designed to nurture family strengths while supporting families in processing and problem-solving effectively.

    • Dyads

    Dyads are designed to facilitate meaningful and successful interactions between peers. 

    • School Consultation

    School Consultations are available to support school personnel in designing effective interventions for students.  Consultations are also available to offer students ideas and strategies for increasing their success in school.  Finally School Consultations can support and facilitate generalization of skills.

    • Behavior Consultation

    Behavior Consultations are designed to assist individuals with developing positive behaviors and adaptive strategies.  Behavior Consultations can take place in-home, in school, in the community and in the office.

    • Sibling Groups/Interventions

    Sibling Groups are designed to support individuals who have a sibling with extra needs.  

    • Home-Based Consultations

    Home-Based Consultations are available to support children, adolescents and their families in the home setting. 

    • Early Intervention

    Research has shown how critical early intervention is in the life and development of a child.  All of the clinicians of Lauren H. Kerstein LCSW, P.C. are committed to providing Early Intervention.

    • Parent Support and Therapy

    Parent Support and Individual Therapy is designed to assist parents with their own challenges and struggles as well as provide support through their journey as parents. 

    • Presentations and Training

    Lauren Kerstein offers a number of presentations and training opportunities.  Trainings and presentations are designed to enrich parent and professional knowledge as well as offer new strategies and interventions.

    • Professional Development

    Beginning in September 2011, Lauren will be offering trainings for Continued Competency for LSW's, LCSW's and LPC's.  Please call if you would like further information.

 Group Services
"Making Connections" Relationship Skills Groups
“Making Connections” began in 1999 to create an opportunity for individuals struggling with relationship skills to come together to find friends.  The groups are designed to work on the numerous skills involved in interacting with others, creating friendships and sustaining fulfilling satisfying relationships.Most importantly, “Making Connections” is designed to make interactions meaningful and fun!  The groups incorporate the following skills into fun and meaningful activities:

  • Interaction and friendship skills 
  • Social perception 
  • Theory of mind 
  • Reading nonverbal cues 
  • Recognizing one’s areas of challenge 
  • Understanding one’s strengths and the ways in which to build upon those strengths 
  • Sensory awareness and strategies 
  • Cooperation 
  • Executive Function 
  • Looking at cause and effect in relationships 
  • Identifying the “big picture” instead of focusing on small details 
  • Bullying 
  • Effective problem solving 
  • Emotional awareness 
  • Emotional regulation 
  • Developing effective coping strategies

  In order to ensure the
groups are effective and predictable, members are required to attend 4 out of 5 groups and provide 36-hours notice if they cannot attend. 


"Making Connections" Sibling Groups
 

Sibling groups provide an opportunity to talk about having a sibling who has unique challenges and strengths, gather information, get support, make new friends and HAVE FUN!!

The following group opportunities are being offered for Summer 2011. 

 “Sibling Supper Clubs”

This group will meet for dinner and dessert.  Please click on the "Making Connections" Group Schedules tab for more information. The group members will have the opportunity to discuss the ups and downs of having a sibling with unique needs.  The group will also include games and an opportunity to have FUN!  

The cost of these groups is: $50 per two-hour group. 

Please note:  Group will be cancelled if there are less than 5 RSVP's for that particular session.
